if only you had stayed

a short story available on Amazon

Sarcastic. Scarred. Stuck.

Charlie Foster is a disaster. Just ask her therapist.

After high school, Charlie loaded what little she owned into her car, ripped off the proverbial rear view mirror, and drove out west with her angsty punk music blaring as loud as the speakers could handle. The falling out with her best friend, Skylar, right before graduation still haunts her ten years later. Now Charlie’s back in town for their high school reunion searching for answers, closure, and one last shot at Skylar’s heart.

But Skylar may have moved on long ago—for better or worse.

If Only You Had Stayed explores shattered first loves, fumbled second chances, and the inescapable external forces that shape a life.

Code RED

a short story coming 2025

Part of Not Your Ever After - An Anthology of Crooked Fairy Tales

When an outbreak of deadly Lunabelle flowers sickens the futuristic city of Three Oaks, Scarlet is the obvious choice to formulate the antidote. She’s a genius botanist who’s studied the rare flowers for fifteen years, only she’s not welcome back to her biotech firm after her last experiment ended inexplicably in tragedy. Forced out by colleagues and the press, she’ll have to rely on a few unexpected allies to infiltrate her old lab.

If she can disperse an effective antidote before it’s too late, maybe she can redeem her name, too. But there are traps around every corner, a predator stalks from the shadows, and the deeper she goes, the more she realizes that this outbreak isn't what it seems.

Code Red is a near-future science-fantasy "Red Riding Hood" retelling, which will be featured in Not Your Ever After later this year. For more info about the anthology, visit:

Transcendence

COMPLETED currently querying!

Adult siblings Cascade and Zephyr hustle, gamble, and outrun authorities to keep their failing courier business and their ramshackle airship, the Transcendence, aloft between islands in the sky. The ship is Cascade’s pride and joy, flaking rust and all, because it’s the only chance she’s got to make her way in the world due to a hereditary lack of magic. Unable to afford another wind technician, Zephyr powers the ship with his own magic. He could never leave his sister grounded, but the commitment is keeping him from starting a life with his boyfriend, and the guilt is gnawing at Cascade.

The solution comes in the form of an offer Cascade overhears in a seedy tavern. To Zephyr's pleasant surprise, the task doesn't even sound illegal. That is, until they learn that their mysterious client has sinister motives. In even further over their heads than usual, the siblings scramble to outwit their client, and Cascade is forced to grapple with her reliance on her brother, his boyfriend's simmering resentment for her, and her own self-worth in the face of a growing regime that aims to exterminate her.

Ascendance

current project

A thousand years before the events of Transcendence, the Alaerian Empire is a sprawling paradise for the elite magic wielding class.

Gellert, the son of the Emperor, is devastated when his father announces a plan to name Gellert’s younger sister the heir ascendant. But after a fluke success, he's convinced a palace attendant, Elowyn, is the key to the new form of enchanting he's been trying to hone for the last decade—a magic he believes could propel the empire into a new age of prosperity. But magic wielders have never been kind to the non-magic peasantry, and Elowyn is keen to stay out of the way, even after Gellert comes desperately banging at her door.

Then her world shifts in an instant. Suddenly, Gellert’s promise of a better future lights a fire within her. If they can truly harness enchanting, they both know the world will change forever—and Elowyn realizes she could be in the unique position to twist that change in favor of those who have, for centuries, lived, worked, and died, for the pleasure and luxury of the wielders and the crown.

mostly just vibes right now

A generation ship?

A burger flipper with a dream?

A sapphic romance?

An alien planet?

Messy relationships?

A plant mom?

Science... magic?

And a big secret...

I honestly have no real idea, but we'll see where it goes! Definitely not hard sci-fi. Hopefully still pops of humor and shenanigans amongst some characters you'll love and root for.
